Project Management Fundamentals: review basic Project Management processes (fundamentals) and tools utilized to develop and manage project scope, cost/budget, and schedule. Discuss inter-relationships between each and the concept of the triple constraint.
Review requirements, processes, and resources needed to successfully administer a state or federally funded transportation project. Training materials will draw from the VDOT Locally Administered Project Manual and the FHWA Contract Administration Core Curriculum. Course tailored to needs of client.
Review key federal and state transportation contract requirements including labor compliance, civil rights documentation, DBE and SWAM requirements, Buy America requirements, materials documentation, etc.
Provide information on the latest State and Federal transportation funding programs to include explaining eligibility requirements, purpose of program, application scoring criteria, and what should be included in the application to be successful in receiving funding. Also review Federal-aid Highway Program and Requirements, as well as federal and state oversight. RCS also provides this training through the UVA - Transportation Training Academy (TTA)
VDOT Work Zone Traffic Control (WZTC) courses: Courses include the VDOT 1-day Basic (installer) WZTC course, the VDOT 2-day Intermediate Supervisory/Inspection) WZTC course, and the VDOT 2-day Advanced (design) WZTC course . The Basic and Intermediate courses include Flagger training as well.
